Jasper Blom Quartet

Het Jasper Blom Quartet bestaat uit vier internationaal gerenommeerde Nederlandse jazzmuzikanten, die sinds 2005 samen spelen.
Blom’s intelligente composities bestrijken een breed scala aan stilistische invloeden, van popmuziek en klassiek via jazz tot vrije geïmproviseerde soundscapes. In zijn werk ontwikkelen zich verhalen, terwijl muzikale talen worden uitgedaagd door de individualiteit en het samenspel van de bandleden: Een ware showcase van wat melodie, ritme en harmonie te bieden hebben in compositie en improvisatie.
Het JBQ heeft 7 cd’s uit met al het originele materiaal. Vanaf het prachtige live-album in het BIMhuis -POLYPHONY-, komen alle JBQ releases uit op het Londense Whirlwind Recordings.
“METROPOLARITY”, de meest recente release (Whirlwind Recordings WR 4832), is een samenwerking tussen het Jasper Blom Quartet en het Metropole Orkest, ‘s werelds toonaangevende pop- en jazzorkest. De release is op 9 mei 2025 op alle platforms.
METROPOLARITY bevat 10 van Blom’s gevierde composities, het is een verbluffende mix van de strakke, intuïtieve improvisaties van het kwartet, de innovatieve composities van Jasper en de majestueuze omvang en breedte van het 50-koppige ensemble.
Het concert op 28 mei 2025 in het Muziekgebouw aan het IJ in Amsterdam viert het 20-jarig bestaan van JBQ.
Jasper Blom is een toonaangevende tenorsaxofonist van de Nederlandse jazzscene en een van de meest veelzijdige solisten van de BeNeLux.
Jesse van Ruller heeft sinds het winnen van de Thelonious Monk Award een internationale reputatie opgebouwd en kan worden beschouwd als een van de beste jazzgitaristen ter wereld.
Frans van der Hoeven heeft opgetreden met alle grote jazzsolisten die de Benelux doorkruisten (o.a. Clark Terry, Johnny Griffin, Art Farmer, Tom Harrell).
Drummer Martijn Vink is een van Europa’s meest gewilde sessiedrummers door zijn werk met het Metropole Orkest, de WDR Big Band, Brussels Jazz Orchestra en artiesten als Vince Mendoza, Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano en Boyan Z.
